What is PILATES?
PILATES is a highly effective way to shape up, slim down and feel great. It’s a contemporary approach to the mind-body exercise German athlete Joseph Pilates developed in the 1920’s. An emphasis on movement quality, posture and breathing makes Pilates a safe, challenging and revitalizing workout.
Our highly qualified instructors make an effort to accommodate those with physical limitations through modifications of the movements while maintaining an effective and safe workout.

Whether you’re finishing physical therapy or in great shape, Pilates is an excellent way to achieve and maintain optimal fitness and well-being.
Mat Class Information
Beginner: A class focusing on the foundational principles and exercises of Pilates. For participants with little to no Pilates experience.
Advanced Beginner: Ideal for the participant has a basic understanding of the foundational principles and knows how to modify most exercises to fit their body.
Intermediate: A class designed for the student who has been practicing Pilates consistently for a year or more. Conducted at a faster pace with more challenging exercises.
All classes are 55 minutes in duration.
How Do I Get Started?
In an effort to meet your individual needs and goals, we require at least 1 private lesson before entering any class. When Are Classes Offered?
Pilates Mat classes are offered at various times of the week. They will typically be held for 8 weeks but may change due to instructor vacation and holidays.

8 weeks: $165 Drop-in: $25/session
To reserve a place in class, you must register for the 8 week session by Friday, January 6th, 2017. Registration is based on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Call the Transition Studio to register at (734) 232 -1196. You can pay by credit card over the phone or bring a check written to UMHS with you to your first class session.
A 5% discount will be applied if you wish to attend 2 or more class sessions.
If you decide to drop-in, you are not guaranteed a spot.
Where are the classes offered?
All classes and private lessons are held at 325 East Eisenhower in Ann Arbor in the University of Michigan Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Sara has been an instructor of dance for over 37 years, an exercise and Pilates professional for 16 years. She is also a Physical Therapist Assistant who enjoys helping her clients improve their balance and stability in a fun and nurturing environment. She will share her passion for movement and exercise with her unique approach to dynamic movement as it relates to everyday activities.
